2011 6월 15일, 스위스 제네바 CoNGO(비정부기구 회의)사무실에서 캐롤린 핸신(Carolyn Handschin)씨가 주도로 NGO 위원회의 회장이었던 콘치타 지메네즈 폰시니(Conchita Jimenez Ponchini)여사의 승화식이 있었다.

이번 승화식에는 많은 NGO 기관의 대표들이 참석했으며, 특별히 국제연합 인권 위원회의 의원인 강경화 여사가 참석하기도 했다. 참석자들은 여성의 인권을 위해 노력했던 고인의 행적을 기리며 감사의 마음을 전했다.

A memorial service for Conchita Jimenez Poncini was organized by Carolyn Handschin on 15th June in the tradition of the unification “Honoring a Legacy of Peace” Seunghwa ceremonies in the CoNGO (Conference of Non‐ Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations) Office in Geneva. Conchita was the president of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women (CSW) of which Carolyn, representing WFWP, is currently the Secretary and had passed into spirit world the same morning that TF spoke at the UN in Geneva, May 13.

The event was attended by a large number of representatives of NGOs, including Ms. Kyung Wha KANG, Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Many moving testimonies of Conchita’s tireless efforts on behalf of women’s rights and their empowerment were given. People expressed their deep and tearful gratitude.
