지난 5월 26일~27일, 오스트리아 여성연합은 노벨평화상 수상자인 베르타 폰 주트너(1905 -‘오스트리아 평화의 벗’창립자)의 고향인 프라하에서 오스트리아와 체코 두 지역의 주관으로 자매결연행사가 개최되었다.

이번 행사는 전체 27명이 참석하였으며, 14명의 새로운 게스트가 함께하여 더욱 의미가 있었다.

프라하에서 진행되는 행사는 1995년부터 시작되어 지속적으로 자매결연 행사를 통해 이어져 오고 있다.

따뜻한 날씨와 파란 하늘로 우리들을 환영한 프라하는 마치 보석 상자와 같은 집들로 이루어진 아름다운 도시였다.

이곳 태생인 베르타 폰 주트너씨의 ‘위대한 평화 활동’에 대한 연구를 목적으로 우리는 프라하를 방문하고 있다. 제1차 세계대전이 있기 전에 유럽전역에 평화 운동을 시작했다. 그녀는 알프레드 노벨과 함께 일했고 노벨 평화상을 만들 수 있도록 힘을 북돋아 준 인물이다. 우리는 그녀의 생가와 관련 있는 장소를 견학하였다. 
 
다음날 자매결연행사는 여성연합의 소개, 요하네스 스탬프 (Mr. Johannnes Stamp)씨의 감동적인 초청강연 끝난 후 오스트리안 여성-체코 여성들의 ‘자매결연-평화의 다리’행사가 진행되었다.

커플선정은 제비뽑기의 방식으로 이루어졌음에도 자매로 매칭 된 여성들은 서로간의 비슷한 점들을 찾을 수 있다며 모두가 즐거워하며 행복한 시간을 보냈다.

점심식사 이후에 두 개의 강좌가 진행되었다. 먼저 마셀라 로젠나로바 회장(체코 여성연합)은 ‘인생, 사랑, 성생활의 가치’라는 주제로 지난 16년 동안 학교에서 어린 아이들에게 교육해 왔던 주제로 강연을 하였다.

두 번째 강의는 ‘가정 관계의 윤리’로 유명한 심리학자인 이리나 프레코프 씨가 강의를 맡았다.

모든 시간이 너무나 짧게 느껴졌고 기쁜 마음으로 행사를 마무리했다.

행사를 준비해준 체코 여성연합 회원들에게 깊은 감사를 드린다.

Sisterhood Meeting in Prague

From May 26. through 27, the WFWPI Austria Chapter held the 'Sisterhood Meeting' in Prague. This event organized in order to visit birthplace of Bertha V. Suttner and study her peace activity.

WFWPI Czech Chapter supported to organize this short excursion and 'bridge of peace' ceremony. Total participants was 27 (14 guests, 13 members).

“Excursion to the Birthplace of Bertha V. Suttner in Prague”

This trip to Prague has been the continuation of a sisterhood relationship begun in 1995 (the first in Europe). Early Saturday morning on May 26th,2012,27ladiesfromVienna(representing14nations)gatheredtojointhe“Eurolines”businVienna.AfterseveralhoursdrivingwearrivedinPrague.

Prague welcomed us with warm weather and blue sky, being a very beautiful city with many houses like jewelry boxes.

The purpose of our visit was to study about the great peace activist Bertha v. Suttner whose birthplace was Prague. Before World War I she initiated a Europe-wide peace movement. She worked together with Alfred Nobel and inspired him to found the Nobel Peace Prize. Actually Bertha v. Suttner was the first lady to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, in 1905.

We visited the birth place of Bertha v. Suttner and other buildings which were relevant in her life. After 5 hours sightseeing we enjoyed a romantic candlelight dinner in an old Prague restaurant.

The next day we spent at the UPF and WFWP office close our hotel. After introducing our group Mr. Johannes Stampf who we invited to join our journey, gave a moving lecture about the difficult path of reconciliation by taking the example of Jacob & Esau. Dr. Maria Riehl translated into Czech language.

After the lecture we had our carefully planned „Bridge of Peace“ Ceremony with 15 Austrian- Czech and 4 international couples. The experience was amazing, because the sisters who were “matched” had so many similarities. They drew their partners by lottery! We ourselves could never have made such good choices, because we could never know all the details! There was joy and happiness.

After lunch we listened to two lectures presented by Marcela Rozehnalova – the president of the Czech WFWP: The first lecture was about „The value of life, love and sexuality“, a topic which she has been teaching the last 16 years to young people in schools. The second topic was „The Ethics of Family Relationships“ from Irina Precop, a well known Psychologist.

Time was short after all, and we had to rush off to our Eurolines connection which brought us back to Vienna.

All participants who had come from Vienna where happy and greatful to our Czech sisters, who had prepared the program so thoroughly and who were such good hosts!
