10월 17일 영국지부는 런던에서 시작되어 영국 전역으로 확산된 폭동에 대하여 을 주최하여 젊은이들의 목소리를 들어보고 이에 상응하는 기성세대의 이야기도 들어보는 시간으로 ‘폭동 후에…’라는 주제로 95명이 참석한 가운데 열렸다.

공개 토의 형식으로 많은 다른 관점과 시각의 의견들이 아래와 같이 제시되었다.

◎ 다문화시대에 살고 있음에도 불구하고 커뮤니티와 주인정신, 다른 단체로부터 고립되어져 있다.
◎ 젊은이들은 권위를 존중하는 훈련된 사고와 삶이 필요하다.
◎ 학교에 인성교육 프로그램을 소개하고 젊은이들의 에너지를 긍정적으로 집중할 수 있도록 도와야 한다 – 학생들을 교육하는 것은 좋은 직업이나 경력자를 길러내는 것만큼 ‘좋은 사람들’을 길러내는 방법이다.
◎ 모든 분야가 축소됨에도 불구하고 청년들의 참여를 요구하는 사회적 활동은 더욱 활성화가 가능하다.
◎ 더 많은 커뮤니티 봉사 활동들은 젊은이들 스스로 프로젝트를 위해 노력을 투입하며 주인의식을 가질 수 있도록 도움을 준다.

토론 이후에는 촛불을 밝히며 자신을 위한 기도와 반성의 시간을 갖고 모임을 마무리 지었다. 모든 일정이 끝난 후에도 채팅을 통해 서로의 이야기를 나누었고 프레드릭 여사가 (Friederike) 직접 제작한 핸드 메이드 카드를 판매하여 그 수익금으로 인도의 아이들을 후원하였다.

Several months on from the severe rioting, which began in London and spread to several other UK cities including Birmingham, we held a Women's Peace Meeting to hear the voices and opinions of our young people, followed by responses from the older generation, and concluding with an open floor discussion. Many different points of view and perspectives were offered
◎ although we live in a multicultural society, it is not easy to have a sense of community and ownership, and many communities are still isolated from one another.
◎ the need for young people to have more disciplined lives, with greater respect for authority
◎ to introduce character education programmes into schools to help young people focus their energy in positive ways- to help them to become ‘good people’as well as becoming good within a particular profession or career
◎ in spite of all the cutbacks, to have more social activities available for young people to get involved with – youth clubs, sports clubs and facilities, etc.

Following the discussion, we held our time of candle-lit prayer and reflection, always a deep and meaningful moment, and a wonderful way to draw the meeting to a close. We then enjoyed another hour of chatting, networking and sharing refreshments, during which Mrs Friederike Rice sold her hand-made cards and other items, the proceeds going to support the Interfaith Children's Home in India.
