3월11일 일본 대지진과 쓰나미, 원전 폭발의 참사 속에서도 3월16일 도쿄 도시 센터 호텔에서 제19회 일본 여성연합 전국 임원 총회가 열렸다.

모두가 일본을 탈출하는 상황임에서 세계본부인 한국에서는 문난영 세계회장을 비롯하여 최연아 세계부회장, 최영선 사무총장, 이사 나오코 국제국장이 참석했으며, 일본 전 지역에서 약 360 여 명의 임원과 회원이 함께 했다.

쓰나미 피해지역인 아오모리현에서 어렵게 행사를 위해 참석해준 시가나이 유리꼬 지부장(아오모리현)의 사회를 시작으로 일본 전 지역의 신임 회장단 임명장 수여, 우수지부 및 우수회원 시상으로 진행되었다.

함께 한 회원들은 수상자 중에도 지진과 쓰나미 피해로 생사를 알 수 없는 임원과 회원들의 이름이 호명 될 때마다 함께 활동해오던 지난 추억을 떠올리며 장내는 울음바다가 되었다.

문난영 회장은 “일본인의 질서를 지키는 마음, 인내의 마음으로 슬픔을 극복하기를 기원한다.” 고 격려하며, 한국 회원들이 정성으로 모은 지구가족사랑 1%운동 기금 1만 달러를 테츠코 쿠보키 회장(일본 여성연합)에게 전달하였다.

이어 최연아 부회장도 “어려운 가운데서도 어머니의 마음으로 극복하세요.” 또한 “과거에도 힘들고 어려웠던 시절 현명히 잘 극복하였던 일본의 저력을 믿는다.”고 응원이 메시지를 전달하였다.

이에 일본 회원과 임원들은 “일본에 대하여 우호적 감정을 자지고 있지 않은 나라조차도 일본을 도우려는 마음을 보았으며, 전 세계가 수고해 주고 있다는 사실을 잊지 않고 기억하겠으며 이 어려운 상황을 잘 헤쳐 날 갈 것이다”리는 의지를 전했다.

WFWP Japan 19thGeneral Meeting and Commemorative Event

Despite Japan's severe earthquake and tsunami on March 11 and the following Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, WFWP Japan held its 19th National General Meeting on March 16, at the Toshi Center, Tokyo.

Although many were trying to leave Japan, Pres. Lan Young Moon, Vice Pres. Yeon Ah Choi, SG Young Sun Choi, and International Dept. aide Naoko Isa Brazil together with some 360 Japan members from around the country attended the 19th General Meeting and Anniversary Ceremony.

Branch Manager Sikanai Yuriko from Aomori, a tsunami-damaged area, was MC, and there were programs of presentation of certificate of appointment of a new officers as well as excellent-branch and excellent-member presentations.

People at the general meeting burst out crying when the names of members who were not yet known to have survived the tsunami were read out during the award presentation. Miraculously, almost all members have now been accounted for.

Pres. Moon said "I pray that Japan can overcome its crisis with the Japanese determination to cooperate with each other, maintain order with care and perseverance," and delivered $10,000 to Mrs. Tetsuko Kuboki (WFWP Japan) collected by WFWP Korea members.

Following that, IVP Choi delivered a supportive message, "Please overcome difficulty with a mother's heart," and "I believe in Japan's resourcefulness, through which the nation has overcome hard times in the past."

WFWP Japan members and executives demonstrated their strong will and said "Over 100 countries have offered to help us; we recognize that the world is making efforts for us now, and we will make it through this trial with help from Heaven."
